Blog number two

Ø Reiterate a term or concept you learned in Anatomy this week.
One of the terms I learned in anatomy this week was Melanocyte
Ø List a few pleasant events that happened during your first weeks at NMU.
Well some events that I noticed were going on were, the football and soccer games, all the sorrorities are rushing so they are all trying to get you to join their house and that was kind of intertaining and lastly we had this lady from New Zealand come in and she was nuts!
Ø Where do you want to be (academically) in six months?
I would like to have passed all my classes and earn atleast a 3.0 GPA
Ø List habits you already possess that make you successful in college.
I try to do the homework assigned right after that class just so I don't have to worry about it later. I also think that my note taking isn't too bad.
Ø List habits (timewasters?) you can change or modify, or need to lose.
I need to cut back on texting and using the computer for things other than school
Ø Explain how you approach studying your a) textbook and b) notes.
I just try to write down key points in my notebook so that i can still pay attention to what the professor is saying. With my textbook i mainly try to concentrate on the boldfaced or italic words.
Ø Explain how you determine what to write down in notes during lectures.
I listen for different tones in the professors voice, like Dr. Froiland, he repeats himself so i know that i need to write what he just said down.
Ø FAST FOOD NATION:
Ø Watch this short 1980’s McDonald’s commercial. McD’s reps have actually claimed they do not target children in their ads.. Pay attention to the tagline: “The Hamburglar is very clever and very sneaky!” Why is this ironic?
This is ironic to me because this commercial is setup in the classroom, who goes to school? kids, and also i think it's funny that ronald says the hamburglar is sneaky when really mcdonalds is sneaky because they don't tell you what goes in your food.
Ø Over the last several decades, fast food companies have aggressively targeted children in their marketing efforts. Should advertisers be permitted to target children who lack the sophistication to make informed decisions and are essentially being lured into eating high fat, high calorie food through toys and cute corporate mascots?
I don't think they should do it, but i don't see how they can be told that they aren't allowed to give away toys in their meals.

Great point Sarah -- McD's (and others) are sneaky about what's in their food. You got it! Not only are they trying to "sneak" into childrens' lives by marketing, they are also trying to pass toxic foods into our meals.

Glad you pay attention to bold & italic words - they're obviously a dead giveaway. :)

10/10

I don't really know what we are supposed to comment about on each others, so I'm just going to say that your blogs are really good and give out great points. I'm on the same note taking thing as you are. He does change tones when he's going to say something important. Very good blogs =) haha-Sarah
